You leave out the sales pitch, and I’ll let down my defenses.

…And then, only then maybe I will listen. Yep.

What is social influnce?

If  social influence is the ability to effectively impress upon a social body and become a catalyst for changing it, then  placing your sales message online isn’t going to work.

Imagine  you are invited to an grown-up birthday party (no clowns brings safe and comfortable alliteration),  would you attend with the express purpose of selling whatever products or services you may be peddling that day?  If so, I promise you will  neither be the life of the party, and on the invitation list for next year.  Attentive people ” in tune” with their social circle’s conversations will ”tune out” your message and brand. Blip.  You become a distraction for what truly matters – people and relationships of value and relavancy across social spheres.

So take this approach with applying ad media to social netoworking channels.  And  leave the ”… sell sell sell… sunday Sunday, SUNDAY!”  mentality on the first coat-rack you pass by upon entering your sales floor.

If your not producing ads for social media which are funny and memorable, controversion – possessing the seeds of geographic and category type “buzzworthyness” then don’t bother. It will work against you. You are in love with the sound of your own vain imprint on the social space. And if you have an ad which is funny, but not memorable and potentially buzzworthy, you must position for what it is other than an opportunity for a customer to buy. If there’s nothing then don’t do publish it.   But if it is funny, memorable and potentially buzzworthy, and you position your ad as fun, entertaining and worthwhile to watch, and  next your trusting social network  of fans, clients and prospects  lend you buy-in to propell your ad to “viral”, your  sales message make it’s mark and will be inherently served while your network audience is engaged with the creative.    You’ve made your  mark, and you’re now top of mind for now,  and you did it without the “sales pitch”.
